The Mass General Research Institute is made up of numerous centers, labs and researchers within the Massachusetts General Hospital. We are incredibly grateful to be a part of such a large community of innovative scientists.

One of our centers, the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, recently highlighted several of their researchers to support women in science, and we thought we would spread the love!

Read on to get to know a few of the inspiring women in science at the
    Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.

Meet Jennifer! She is currently completing a joint #research and clinical fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Jennifer spends one day/week at the Psychology Assessment Center conducting neuropsychological assessments with patients experiencing cognitive difficulties due to a variety of etiologies, including Alzheimer’s disease, frontal temporal dementia, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and brain injury.

Meet Olivia! She’s working on improving the specificity of functional MRI (fMRI) by quantifying the effect of vascular geometry in the brain on fMRI signals. Olivia scans people’s brains at maximum resolution to investigate their signals as a function of their head orientation.

Meet Andrea! Born and raised in Mexico City, Andrea obtained her MD degree from the UNAM Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and is currently enrolled at the UMCG – Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen for postgraduate studies. She is a visiting Ph.D. student at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging Massachusetts General Hospital to perform research in the field of cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) while also completing a program to obtain registration as an Epidemiologist with the Dutch Epidemiology Society.
